Marsilea quadrifolia is a herbaceous plant found naturally in central and southern Europe, Caucasia, western Siberia, Afghanistan, south-west India, China, Japan, and Vietnam, though it is considered a weed in some parts of the United States, where it has been well established in the northeast for over 100 years.^[2] Its common names include four leaf clover and European waterclover (USA), even though it is not a species of clover.

Sporocarps, which are structures containing spores, emerge from the base of the leaf stalks.

Trichosanthes tricuspidata is considered a medicinally important plant in the Indian system of traditional systems (Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani) and other traditional medicinal systems.

The fruits of Trichosanthes tricuspidata are bitter and used to cure carminative, purgative, migraines, asthma, earache, and ozoena. Fruit is used in asthma, lung disorders, as a violent hydrogogue cathartic, abortifacient, to reduce inflammation, heat of the brain, opthalmia, leprosy, weakness of limbs, epilepsy, stomatitis, and rheumatism. In the Thai traditional system of medicine, the plant is used to cure ant fever, anthelmintic, laxative,e, and migraine. The seeds are emetic and purgative.  The roots are helpful to treat lung diseases in cattle, diabetic carbuncles, and headaches. Plants used to treat bronchitis and seed paste helps to cure hoof and cattle mouth disease. The plant is used for curing snakebite poisoning and the juice of the plant is applied externally for skin eruptions In Nepal the roots are used to cure bleeding in chickens.
